I like being in the room before everyone knows exactly what the thing is. As a performer, I repeatedly chose new musicals, workshops, and developmental contracts—much to my agents’ dismay—over established, long-running shows. I worked on more than fifteen new musicals at different stages of development. What drew me in was that the work was still alive enough to change. A writer changed a line. A director rethought a moment. An actor found something nobody had seen yet. The story became clearer. The character became more herself. Then an audience entered the room and changed the equation again. That exchange—between writers, directors, actors, designers, producers, and eventually the audience—is still where I want to work. My work now spans story, audience, producing strategy, and the path a new work takes into the world. Selected rooms. Hal Prince · Susan Stroman · Diane Paulus · Laurence O’Keefe. Roundabout Theatre Company · New York Stage and Film · The York Theatre Company.
